Job Description
Job Purpose:
 
Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of wide range of telecommunication services to various users at New Fields (SARB, Umm Lulu, Naser) including drilling rigs (onshore / offshore), engineering barges, vessels and well heads towers expect Das Island. Carries out all operational activities of all narrow / wide band telecommunications systems and equipment plus telephony exchange (Hybrid / IP) based.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
Carries out all installation, maintenance, commissioning and operational activities of a variety of telecommunication services to various users including drilling rigs, engineering barges and vessels. This includes Telephony, structured cabling, Wide band and Narrow band Radio Systems.
Carries out fault diagnosis sophisticated telecommunications systems & equipment using highly sophisticated test equipment and identifies problem areas / defects / causes.
Carries out 1st & 2nd line trouble-shooting and maintenance repair works to component level to ensure efficient operability and user satisfaction of the services rendered.
Prepares and personally participates the implementation of planned maintenance program and adhoc work requests of all systems & equipment installed to ensure provision of continuous & efficient Telecomms Services to support Company Operations.
Directs contractors personnel as and when required, engages in all telecommunications associated tasks and checks work done to ensure completion according to the Company's requirements.
Ensures to have up to date inventory on all equipments related.
Maintains communication equipment including all type of telephones, faxes, hotlines GSM / SAT handhelds, Radio (Marine / Ground to Air / TETRA) and etc. in the Central Control Room (CCR) on weekly basis and takes necessary actions to rectify any faults.
Works in line with HSE policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
 
Completion of secondary school followed by 2 years formal training leading to a diploma in relevant Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering or Equivalent.
Certified CCNA / A + will be a plus.
5 - 6 years' work experience in repair & maintenance on modern technology telecommunications equipment / systems of which at least 2 years in supervisory capacity and preferably in offshore oil / gas related organization.
Good experience of PC hardware and software particularly Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent communication skills to deal with users from various cultures at all levels.
Good knowledge of English Language.
