Job Description
Basic Function:
 
Operates on an assigned shift, Process Units and systems in process areas as directed. (Total processing capacity of plant is 600,000 bpd of crude oil and 900 mmscfd of raw gas) Carries out necessary maintenance of equipment.
 
Work Performed:
 
Operates unit and system equipment in such Pumps, Electric Motors, Oil & Gas fired furnaces, instrumentation for measurement and control of as; Separators, K.O. Drums, Strippers, steam mains/traps, API Separators, pressure, flow, temperature and level.
Takes required action to correct operating conditions when alarms are activated. Monitors plant parameters and records in the plant log sheets every 2 or 4 hours a variety of readings such as oil/gas flows and tank levels/temperatures.
Tours the process areas regularly during assigned shift, checks on installation, equipment and valves to ensure smooth and safe operations of system.
Starts up, shuts down, isolates, adjust flow rates/level/pressures/temperature on pumps, strippers, separators, gas sweetening units, heaters under CCR Panel operators  instructions.
Makes routine checks on all equipment and units to ensure proper functioning and carries out necessary routine maintenance.
Prepares equipment for maintenance/checks condition of equipment on completion of maintenance and prepares for commissioning by following approved established procedures.
Reports equipment and instrument defects, leaks, etc. immediately to Supervisor and in emergency situations takes possible quick actions.
Takes samples of oil, DEA and condensate, tests sweet gas for hydrogen sulphide to ensure compliance with specifications and conducts site tours and surveys to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Monitors work site, ensures fulfilling relevant work permit conditions, checks completed work to ensure adherence to work permit conditions and maintaining good house-keeping.
Ensures that equipment/system is integrated safely into operation after completion of work. Reads and acquaints his self with operating manuals, procedures, standing instructions and plant operating parameters and ensures compliance with same during routine and non- routine job.
Works in line with HSE policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
 
Completion of Secondary Education, followed by 2 years of formal training leading to a Technical Diploma or equivalent.
3 years' experience in an oil refinery or petrochemical complex.
Good knowledge of English Language.
