Job Description
Basic Function:
 
Maintains detailed equipment and system records using Cable Management System (CMS), including location of patch panel, telecom outlets, cable routes, consolidation points above ceiling and types of equipment for each extension. Up-to date limits of authorization of service and maintenance and repair details. Completes various forms related to maintenance and repair activities such as work order, fault and test reports, cable certification reports and time sheets.
Participates in commissioning of any new telephony system.
Should be able to work with the following devices on daily basis:
o NEC DT700 Series
o DT800 Series ITL
o NEC PABX SV8500
o Cisco IP Phones
o BELDEN CDT 10G structured cabling system
o NORDEN 10G structured cabling system
Deliver values in fixing issues/ bugs , troubleshooting problems, identifying the root cause of the problems, and choosing corrective actions to provide solution to the end users in timely manner.
Work with IT venders and suppliers (such as Etisalat) when required
Participate in coaching and training UAE nationals toward their development program.
 
Services Required:
 
Carrying out technical duties such as installation, maintenance, repair and testing of company Telephone and Data network at Company HQ, onshore and offshore sites locations. Work involves action up to end user Desktop and including patching of cables to the main Distribution Frame (MDF) in the PABX room, Building Distribution Frame (MDF), Communication rooms and cabinets.
Carrying out telephone system maintenance work which includes installation and repair of all company telephone structured cabling system, isolation of faults, repair and replacement of specific components in telephone equipment, patch panel and communication cabinet.
Carrying out Data network installation, termination and repair of data cables and prepare patching up to the switch or patch panel of the communication cabinet.
Installing and terminating cables for new or additional telephone extension. Test cables and terminations using modern test equipment.
Installing and terminating cables for new or additional data connection in the data communication cabinets according to international standards. Test cables (Coaxial, UTP Cat. 5 & Fiber optic) using data tool tester, installs RJ45 sockets, makes connection to the switch and patch panel and tests the circuit using data scanner and compares the test results with international standards and keep the record for certification.
Carrying out periodical checks of cables on sample lines to ensure that there is no discrepancy with original commissioning tests. Carries out regular checks on MDF to ensure the good status of cable terminal blocks itself. Checks internal distribution cables and termination to ensure that international standards and certifications are met.
Carrying out maintenance requirements on the Main and Building distribution frames, telecom outlets patch panel of communication room and switch to ensure that good jumpering and patching procedure is observed and that adequate records and labeling are kept for all network connections.
Installing and maintaining telecom peripheral equipment such as mini mux, modems, and fax machines.

Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
 
Technical Diploma in Telecommunication, Telephone Technology or Electronics (2 years)
4-6 years’ experience in the installation and repair of modern telephone and data network and equipment.
Good command of English and good communication skills and human contact.
