Job Description
Basic Function:
 
Ensure adequate Firefighting/protection equipment is provided at the work area to react to a potential fire or emergency incident prior to work commencement.
Ensure that adequate communication means are available.
Ensure areas is free and cleared of all flammables and combustibles. (by removing or covering with fire safe materials).
Identify  all  potential  hazards  and  institute  mitigation measures  to prevent ignition.
Be familiar with facilities surroundings, alarm systems, and emergency procedures
Continually monitor work area for falling sparks, welding spatter, etc,, within a perimeter of 20 meters.
Provide gas testing and continuous monitoring during hot work operations.
Immediately stop all hot work should conditions become hazardous.
Constantly monitor wind direction and keep all evacuation routes clear and free of debris
Ensure  all  fire  or  smoke  detection  equipment  in  the  immediate  areas  (20m perimeter) has been de- activated for the duration of the work, and that sprinkler heads in the immediate area are protected from heat or sparks.
Ensure all workers including himself are provided with and wearing the appropriate PPE.
Ensure that all the fire safety requirements on the HOT PTW are carried out.
Ensure coverage throughout the operation including breaks/lunch and for 30 minutes following the completion of hot work.
A fire watch should be posted and maintained in the immediate area of the hot work and in any adjacent areas that may be exposed to risk due to this operation. For work in elevated structure, a second fire watch should be posted on the ground (floor) immediately below.
At the completion of hot works to inspect the work area and any adjacent areas that may be affected to ensure that they are left in a safe and clean condition.
When the watch is declared over, to clean, uncouple, and return back to their original place all firefighting /protection equipment that he were used for the fire watch operation mentioning any defect eventually.
Operate as a member of a crew to fight fires or assist in rescue missions involving the use of firefighting equipment, various area, as instructed (this includes starting water pumps, handling water spraying hose, opening taps/valve and operating fire extinguishers).
Load, unload, tighten, replenish, crape, paint, test, recharge and maintain good operating condition portable foam or chemical fire extinguishers.
Participate in Oil Spill recovery as required.
Perform checks as per manufactures instructions and ensure records of service for SCBAS & Escape sets.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
 
Physical and medical fitness as per Company requirements.
Completion of Secondary Technical Education / ATI (12 years) or equivalent.
Five years’ experience in firefighting including relevant oil field firefighting experience.
Requirement to read / write in English.
