Job Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
Align departmental objectives with Corporate HSE objectives and annual action plan. Supervise and ensure appropriate vessel berthing to allocate equipment and adequate staff for enhanced productivity. 
Prepare and implement lifting plan as required Ensure planned crane sequence is followed and amended accordingly for improved productivity. 
Ensure all terminal equipment’s are readily available for operation and are running smoothly & arrange equipment’s for customers on hire. 
Ensure all discharge / load plans are up to date and ready for the incoming vessels. Insure to prepare lifting plan for any critical movement of cargo quay/yard. 
Supervise loading/discharge of container/cargo/break bulk/roro to & from vessels providing operators & equipment at different yard locations for ease of operations. 
Supervise trailer movement during loading/discharging at terminal yard to avoid congestion during discharging. 
Ensure cargo loading/discharge locations for each crane for ease of discharging operations & ease of traffic movements. 
Insure to prepare lifting plan for any critical movement of cargo quay/yard. 
Supervise movement of equipment to ensure smooth progression of work-flow during yard operations additionally informing help–desk for any equipment break down/malfunction.
Making arrangements according to the advance booking for delivery/loading operations. Coordination with the asst. supervisor and gear store as well as communication with stevedore foreman. Inform duty superintendent and all concerns about any incident /accident and follow up to collect information to assist with provision of preliminary report by superintendent. 
Evaluate staff performances and identify observed deficiencies for the training and development. 
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly & yearly reports respectively. 
Prepare staff rosters. Manage staff overtime and holidays. 
Execute cost & time effective, safe and productive operation. 
Coordinate with the agent/customer/liner if required. 
Identify operational requirements. 
Suggest process improvements. 
Innovate and encourage staff as a team member. 
Achieve management set targets and process implementation/compliance. 
Participate in the development of departmental HSE programs, objectives, work instructions and operational procedures. 
Identify & investigate potential hazards and dangerous occurrences at the workplace. 
Provide advice and guidance to help, keep the work on track & deliver Feedback on the work and progress and Involves working with employees to establish suitable goals, action plans and time lines. 
Encourage individuals to report HSE observation, near miss and incident. 
Maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the Division/Department to maintain safe working environment. 
Performing other duties as allotted by the Management or Superintendent. 24/7 on call in case of any emergency. 
Identify potential hazards and dangerous occurrences at the workplace and comply with safe work instruction/ guideline. 
Adhere to the safety measures identified in the Risk Assessments, Operation procedures and other HSE procedures. 
Comply with the recommended PPE requirements and maintain it in a good hygienic condition. Report HSE observation, near miss and incidents/accidents. 
 
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
 
The applicant must be a Diploma/Degree 
At least five years of experience Business writing skills 
Computer literacy i.e. MS Applications Email correspondence 
Rigging and slinging & IMDG knowledge. 
Ability to communicate in English.  Arabic is a plus.
