Controls the operation of one LNG Train from the main control room via the Honeywell TDC3000 Distributed Control System. Directs the actions of the Area Operators or Senior Operators to adjust process conditions to maintain stable production. (Monitors a complex control panel for designated area comprising of intricate individual control loops, sequences and logics plus associated Plant alarms) as indicated on DCS screens and IMAC screens.

The 3 LNG Plants have the following areas:

Process: Complex control panel comprising over 120 individual control loops and controllers plus over 250 plant alarms.
Power: Gas, steam turbines, condensing equipment, chlorine plant, pressure reading, control valves.
Steam: Steam boilers, fuel gas, jacket water system desalinated condensate and demineralised water storage. Air compress, coolers, receivers-drying equipment.
Storex: Installations equipment and flare blow-down system.

Work Performed:

Control Room:

Controls and co-ordinates the operation of Plant areas from the Main Control Room, according to instruction received and operating constraints. Leads the shift team from the Main Control Room due to knowledge and understanding of the complete process and equipment and ensures that the necessary immediate corrective action is taken to prevent production loss.
Liaises with the Senior Operator in the field to co-ordinate activities and control of the integrated units.
Maintains continuous radio contact with Area Operators on his assigned Plant area to keep them informed of operating conditions; instructs the operators in manual adjustments of equipment and conveys instructions given by the Area Team Leader (Process / Utilities / Storex).
Ensures all equipment is in a safe condition during a train trip. Subsequently progresses re-streaming, as directed. This involves closely monitoring complex instrumentation for long periods of time and an ability to control many systems simultaneously and by utilizing disparate attentive skill, recognize their effect on the whole Train's operation.
Participates in the testing of automatic shutdown/protection systems. This includes bypassing trip circuits as individual systems are tested, minimizing time of trip negation to ensure Plant safety is not jeopardized. An error of judgment during this operation will result in a Train shutdown or Production loss.

Co-ordinates the testing of automatic shutdown/protection systems. In radio communication with Senior Operators and Area Operators, bypassing trip circuits as individual system are tested, closely monitoring Plant conditions and ensuring that testing is completed quickly and efficiently to minimize the period instrument protection is negated.
Checks all essential Plant and equipment in his area during the shift. Checks all Area Operator logs to ensure that essential information is being correctly recorded and that all operators are aware of operational changes and their consequences.
Supervises the safe and efficient operation of the Plant in accordance with the agreed safety and operational objectives and procedures.
