Job Description
Reviews civil/structural engineering design and prepare structural & stress analysis, design calculation notes for all structural elements after studying modeling analysis output. Develops Statement of Requirement for new projects. Review with project section on new projects / upgrading structure requirements. Conducts feasibility study and engineering study for MOC and prepare the required checks and calculations to assure the validity of the proposed modification. Review & follow up with design consultant on the structural proposals for the new projects. Review scope of work for new projects, design & analysis of new structure & upgrade as received from other divisions.
Prepares structural analysis/design for different structural components, receives drawings, specifications, designs, reviews and evaluates structural Engineering requirements and specs.
Reviews tenders with respect to the structural engineering side, receives class recommendation and prepares scope of work and coordinates class surveys and follow up on the execution of class recommendations.
Prepares/Reviews structural analysis, fatigue analysis, participates in the Pre-qualification of new vendors/contractors, prepares specifications and provide technical recommendations for procurement of major equipment.
Provides technical expertise in solving structural problems for ongoing projects and provide technical support for the project teams.
Receives MOC’s, review, prepare technical evaluation, and carry out Audits and ensures that quality and standards are maintained and cost effective solutions are adopted.
Visits contractor’s yards workshops as required to inspect and insure that contracted new projects and upgrades is carried out in accordance to require specifications and provide technical advice as required.
Liaises with other teams on technical aspects related to the specifications of new material.
Develops and writes Statements of Requirements for new projects and coordinates with end users.
Develops general specifications, standards and guidelines for in-house use.
Reviews and checks the design works of consultant/contractors to ensure that they are in accordance with the agreed scope of works and contract requirements. Reviews/approves drawings, specifications and other technical documents for all types of projects incorporating the comments and requirements in accordance with contract documents within the contractual time frame to avoid related claims.
Co-ordinates the civil/structural works interface between existing and ongoing projects to ensure optimal system design. Reviews and checks in-house engineered works including drawings, specifications, scope of works and annexures.
Monitors construction progress and quality of works and ensures that their compliance with the construction works is in accordance with the contract requirements.
Ensures cost-effective solutions and application of value - added engineering throughout the duration of the design and construction projects. 
Provides professional assistance to projects management, procurement Services Division and Projects Control Department throughout all phases of ongoing projects.
Ensures that the design, specification and drawings are fully coordinated with other discipline engineers. 
Coordinates with Project Control Department on quality, HSE, planning and cost control related activities.
Provides full cooperation with the Projects Control Department on internal HSE/Quality auditing in all projects at all phases as the auditee.
Evaluates and replies to Extension of Time Claims and notifications from Contractor/ Consultants within the Contractual time frame.
Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
Provide input for preparation of the Section / Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives. 
Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control

Implement approved Section / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section’s / Department work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section / Department in line with the Company Performance framework.

Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and Company Code of Practices.
Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering Preferably with professional registration from internationally recognized professional institute. 
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
8 years of experience, in civil / building projects including at least 6 years in design works.
