Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

 

  • Conducts necessary audit, review well completion, workovers drilling and other related petroleum engineering operations programs reports in accordance with company objectives and standards.
  • Define well completion design for planned wells to ensure meeting well life cycle.
  • Supervises and ensures proper computerized data storing related to well completion and testing, down hole problems and completion failures.
  • Prepares overall schedule program for testing wells, bottom hole surveys, wire line operations, well stimulation and related Petroleum Engineering Operations. Monitors the performance and progress in implementation and recommends corrective measures to resolve operational difficulties.
  • Conducts short-term studies to improve the efficiency of production/injection operations.

                                                                                             

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Revise and prepares in coordination with other departments/sections WVA requirements (Well Valve Assurance) documents specifying to drilling division the well completion, workover, drilling, well integrity, design of new wells and testing requirements in accordance with company and well objectives.
  • Recommends new methods/techniques to Drilling Division to carry out on drilling and or workover wells with the objectives to reduce cost and improve performance adhering to well integrity standards.
  • Supervises day to day monitoring of drilling and workover operations as reported by drilling division. Includes identifying sub standard performance or faulty implementation and recommending corrective measures to ensure meeting of objectives and the cost-effective realization of well program. Coordinates activities with Drilling, Field facilities, Well Integrity, HSE&QA Divisions to ensure meeting well objectives, in line with HSE.
  • Follows-up and evaluates wire line and well’s monitoring operations according to the Reservoir Monitoring program and proposes solutions.
  • Prepare monthly, yearly petroleum engineering reports and studies related to existing well completion, intervention assessment and evaluation of new equipment/techniques to prolong well completion operating life and to enhance the completion integrity to improve the wells performance.
  • Supervises and guide in computerizing well completion data in a flexible data base, to increase manpower productivity and to enhance the interpreted data quality and manipulation.
  • Prepare PE input into Technical Committee Meeting TCM, DWISC & FDSC.
  • Conducts studies and contributes in the design and planning of activities such as Completion Design, Well Stimulation and Artificial lift methods.
  • Design upper and lower completion with ICVs and ICDs using NE tool or similar application.
  • Design and troubleshooting Gas lifted Wells and surface Network using application such as Prosper, Pipesim, OLGA.
  • Designs, supervises and follows-up stimulation Jobs (post rig/ acid boat) in addition well conformance and other production technology activities.
  • Optimize lifting performance and detect vertical lift bottle-necking by running different simulation models such as prosper.
  • Provides technical support to Drilling Division for the smooth running of drilling operations to solve problems, co-ordinating communication between Drilling Division & other divisions to ensure smooth operations & assures the fulfilment of FDD, Production requirements.
  • Provides Technical Support Division with the monthly well testing and logging Bar Chart in accordance with reservoir monitoring policy and follows-up the progress and achievement and attends the monthly Monitoring Bar Chart.
  • Conducts Risk assessment to new technology for application with stakeholders.
  • Provide input for preparation of the Department / Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
  • Visits rig/barge for investigation purposes or witness jobs on site.
  • Participates fully/partially in task forces and issues relevant reports.
  • Evaluates problematic/inactive wells and provides the best solution fit for short & long terms.
  • Review and verify all phases in well integrity certificate #1&2 assuring adhering to well integrity standards.
  • Works in team with production and reservoir engineers to follow up well performance and recommends best operating/Intervention practices.
  • Keeps abreast with the new related developments in the industry, conducts feasibility studies and recommends as appropriate for company operations.
  • Socially responsible to provide knowledge transfer & training assistance to colleagues, assistants and newly appointed engineers, Mentor, University Students through various means.
  • Assess and verifies entry point engineers in the CAMS program as appointed.
  • Issues reports/studies as per recommended by PETL and present to team.
  • Participate in writing technical papers for SPE and provide assistance to peers in case of challenges /shortage of staff.

 

Desired Candidate Profile

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

 

  • B.SC in Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience of all aspects of Petroleum Engineering Operations.

 

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

 

  • As per the Job description
  • Good knowledge of computer operation.

 

Behavioural Competencies:

 

  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
