Job Description



To provide expert technical support to site maintenance teams of USSU Business unit pertaining to Mechanical static equipment and related systems. Plan, direct, coordinate and assist in all  mechanical  maintenance activities for the business unit.


Lead, manage, evaluate and control the execution works with adequate site support of all major mechanical works in collaboration with line management and in line with company objectives. Ensure availability of optimum resources and minimize downtime for all mechanical systems major activities without impacting business continuity. Develop and implement systems and procedures for mechanical maintenance and continuous operational  performance improvement and extend continuous support post-handover of new facilities.




  • Direct and supervise the onshore based activities of maintenance, repair, refurbishment and certification of wide variety of mechanical equipment belonging to the business unit.
  • Support and control the execution of all  mechanical maintenance activities such as  Trouble shooting, Inspection, Overhaul, Upgrades, RCA, Vendor support  etc.
  • Coordinate with front line maintenance teams and other support teams to implement various maintenance activities in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Manage and participate for review of P&ID's, Layouts,  Specifications, Operability and Maintainability studies, participate in design review workshops and plot plan reviews and contribute with site requirements and experience towards improvement of existing systems as required.
  • Provide effective interfaces and coordination within and between disciplines, site teams and peers in other site project teams.
  • Provides technical expertise with experience based knowledge and assistance to site maintenance departments on mechanical maintenance engineering and monitoring for all mechanical static equipment.
  • Participates in reliability studies on Brownfield equipment to assist maintenance support department in reviewing maintenance practices, philosophies and strategies.
  • Advises maintenance support on troubleshooting of non-routine equipment failure root cause analysis and reliability audit as required.
  • Prepare scope of work for maintenance jobs and coordinate with commercial division for tendering process, technical evaluation and upon award of job supervise the site activities in coordination with offshore site.
  • Lead and direct the major mechanical activities to be carried out with the operation/maintenance targets KPI’s being  achieved or exceeded.
  • Consolidate, discuss and review requirements based on site feedback and participate as required in Design Technical Review Meetings, Site Surveys, and Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Attend Site Acceptance Tests and installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities of new equipment.
  • Critically review and ensure all major works related Maintenance procedures, Spare Parts, documentation etc. are kept properly updated and handed over post works.
  • Coordinate with reliability teams for implementing updated preventive, routine and other maintenance programs and procedures post major works on mechanical equipment . Recommend modifications and enhancement in order to improve the reliability and availability of the systems.
  • Participate in the commissioning and hand-over of new facilities. Highlight and address maintenance, operational, design and warranty/guaranty related issues with stakeholders.
  • Periodic follow-up of all punch list items till completion with engineering and execution teams with proper prioritization and timeframe for the actions.
  • Review and contribute to studies of the adequacy of the system and recommend system upgrades/changes to meet operational and maintenance challenges.
  • Recommends and Identifies training requirements to ensure up to date  and functional knowledge base.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, technical reviews, Risk Assessment and safety audits, as applicable.
  • Participate as Performing Authority to PTW for site major works for mechanical jobs or as required.
  • Review and ensure proper PPE, LOP, JSA, toolbox talks and the like are being complied for external manpower during works at Site.
  • Review and ensure contractors adheres to HSE rules and regulations in particular and to the  Company rules and regulations in general. Ensures the observance of HSE rules and regulations by junior team members with proper cascade of information.
  • Support Emiratization Program through training and development of UAE national junior employees in the role of Mentor/coach/assessor etc in line with Company approved development program.


Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualification


  • B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of  10 years’ experience in senior position with mechanical maintenance in Oil and Gas industry  covering  Pressure vessels, heat exchanges, valves, HVAC, accommodation module, piping systems, lifting equipment etc. and their components.
  • Excellent knowledge of International Codes and Standards in his own field and general knowledge of other disciplines.
  • Should be well familiar with ERP Programs such as MAXIMO, project management software  & Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Computer literate.
