Job Description



Supervises, Controls and Maintains all Civil Engineering constructions, maintenance and repair works at Industrial and Non Industrial areas of Das Island as per Offshore General specification for Civil Engineering works SP1010 and HSE Regulations to ensure proper implementation of work schedules while maintaining the safe conditions and integrity of all concrete installations, wooden structures and potable water network.


Work Covers but not limited to supervision of concrete installations such as foundation sleepers, trenches, trench covers, retaining walls, culverts, roads, curb stones, paving tiles, crash barriers, etc., residential buildings/caravans, offices, substations and workshops, sports facilities, water proofing, masonry, carpentry, painting, plumbing, potable water distribution and drainage networks.




  • Directs and supervises works of skilled tradesmen in providing Civil Engineering construction, maintenance and repair works to ensure that the work is being done correctly as per design specifications and standards for both Process Plant & General services areas of Offshore on Das Island.
  • Receives work orders/requests for maintenance/repairs/installations on daily basis through MAXIMO System and scrutinizes the requirements to decide and plan accordingly, the priorities and execution for each job.
  • Inspects civil construction/maintenance jobs, evaluates daily works to be done, prepares lists of manpower and material requirements, obtains approval, assigns the work to the contractor and arranges for work permits. Supervises the execution of work, accepts completed jobs and hand-over to concerned departments or originators of work orders.
  • Carry out all modifications and refurbishment works for all buildings (Offices, accommodation, clubs etc.) as and when required.
  • Plans, Monitors and tracks daily progress of in hand works and ensures timely completion, comparing planned against actual. Takes appropriate mitigating action to ensure compliance with plan, based on knowledge of available manpower, equipment & materials.
  • Ensures all emergency work requests are attended on the spot and all required works related to Plant Modification Requests (PMR), major overhauls & shutdown activities are done as per the planned programs.
  • Prepares cost estimation as and when required for work requests received outside the contract scope. Prepares list of required materials, manpower/man-days for execution of job.
  • Monitor and Controls the financial allocations of the Civil Maintenance Contract. Maintains budget records of provisional sum amount to manage the expenditures within the allocated limit. Raises Contractor Material Order (CMO) for required materials through Contractor, raise material requests through Offshore Stores and raises Purchase Requests (PR) whenever required thru Offshore.
  • Inspects and approves civil materials received from contractor to ensure quality, quantity and as per Company Standards.
  • Ensures periodic structural inspections for Accommodation facilities. Keeps up-to-date records of concerned roads, services, buildings, concrete supports. Prepares daily activities reports, weekly reports, monthly reports, weekly look ahead plan & monthly safety returns.
  • Ensure action to be taken for all action plans of internal and external audits for works related to civil section.
  • Carry out works in line with Offshore HSE policy to ensure awareness and strict compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates and supervises Offshore Civil Workshop & Civil Yard to ensure proper implementation of Offshore HSE Standards and Regulations.
  • Conducts site safety tours prior to job start at all work sites in industrial and non-industrial areas.
  • Issues permits for all works to be carried out in the non-industrial area as Issuing Authority and validates the extension of these permits on daily basis. Daily closing of permits for completed works, by checking the site condition & housekeeping.
  • Conduct Safety Group Meetings with contractor's workforce and attends the quarterly HSE meeting for discussion on all related topics.
  • Participates actively in Task Risks Assessments (TRA) for other related activities in Das Island.
  • Ensures all accidents, incidents & near miss reports are investigated and proper action is taken accordingly.


Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualification


  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Competent in reading and understanding specifications, drawings & all other discipline related project and engineering documentation. Familiar with all QA/QC and safety procedures and all company rules and regulations
  • Organization, time management, team working, ability to work under pressure & must have a professional attitude.
  • Good knowledge of English language & it would be an advantage to have knowledge of Arabic
  • Possession of valid U.A.E driving license is desirable.
  • 5 - 6 years' experience in civil construction & maintenance in Oil/Gas industry.
