Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB

 

  • Carries out preventive and breakdown maintenance and calibration of all electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic instruments in the field, panel and workshop, such as transmitters, control valves, switches, vibration probes, belt-weighers, speed pickups and Radioactive level transmitters.
  • The scope of job includes logging and updation of the calibration / test reports of field Instruments in accordance with established weekly schedules. Participates in Plant shutdown and turnaround activities and carries out the tasks as assigned. Works on any other job associated with process plants, as directed by the Senior Engineers and/or Department Head

 

DESCRIPTION

 

  • Calibration of field instruments and performs routine / preventive maintenance on a regular basis as per the approved schedule such as transmitters, control valves, shutdown switches and a variety of other instruments. Completes work reports after each job carried out.
  • Carries out breakdown maintenance as required by Operations and / or from Senior Engineer which includes disassemble of instruments, clean / repair / replaces parts or components, reassembles, calibrates and tests the serviced instruments to ensure proper operation.
  • Overhauling and servicing of control valves in the workshop that cannot be done in the field.  Also ensures that the control valves are tested as per procedure and logs the findings.
  • Repair of Instruments in the workshop for those that cannot be repaired in the field using test equipment. Prepares the test report. Also ensures the proper calibration of test equipment used in the workshop.
  • Works independently in shifts beside general shift as and when assigned to carry out regular maintenance jobs such as calibration / repairing of various field instruments in the plant.
  • Logs all activities carried out in field or workshop on daily basis.
  • Attends to all call out jobs associated with the plant during off duty hours (during week-end and public holidays).
  • Participates in Toolbox meetings to ensure understanding of the task & safe implementation. Assist in plant shutdown / turnaround activities and materials management.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping is carried out in the field and workshop after maintenance.
  • Execute the jobs as per schedule during plant shutdowns and turnarounds and supervise the contracted external manpower.
  • Actively participate in the plant HSE campaigns.
  • Reports unsafe acts and conditions in the work area and contributes to enhancement of HSE in the plant.

 

Desired Candidate Profile

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics & communication.
  • 8 Years experience in installation, maintenance and repair of a wide range of field instruments like smart transmitters, control valves, radioactive level instruments, belt weighers, vibration probes, flame scanners and speed sensors in an Fertilizer, oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Servicing and overhauling of various types of control valves
  • Maintenance and calibration of various types of field Instruments
  • Maintenance and trouble shooting of vibration transducers and speed sensors.
  • Maintenance and trouble shooting of flame scanners, ignitors.
  • Ability to use and calibrate various types of test equipment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
