JOB PURPOSE:

• Plans, directs, coordinates and supervise the activities of the Maintenance Department in supporting the trouble free operation of NG Network assets  . 
• To provide a wide range of  diverse technical knowledge and a significant depth of maintenance experience including technical and engineering direction to the multi-disciplined maintenance team to ensure  equipment is maintained and operated to International Standards. 
• To liaise with NG Engineering and Projects Divisions to ensure high quality maintenance contribution to the Engineering development for modifications, tie-ins and future expansions.
• To perform the activities of maintenance as per corporate objectives and strategies to meet the goals and HSE policies.  To manage these objectives and strategies and convert them to tangible and realistic KPIs.

Job Specific Accountabilities

• Plans, co-ordinates and supervises the activities of the assigned personnel in the department.  Performs management functions at the level established by Senior Management.
• Develops appropriate maintenance strategies to pursue corporate goals.
• Strives for continuous improvement in terms of provision of technical support, processes, customer satisfaction and the application of tools for monitoring, management and improvement.
• Acts as the focal point for championing improvements in asset reliability and availability through providing improvements to management systems and processes, working practices and equipment studies including obsolescence reviews and incident investigations.
• Motivates a team of Maintenance Engineers through proactive performance coaching, providing ongoing technical guidance.
• Organises available resources for optimum utilisation, periodically review the adequacy of the support function to provide required service.
• Directs and supervises the compilation of detailed work scopes for mechanical, instrument and electrical works that will be subject of tender enquires.
• Reviews and audits the work of contractors regularly to ensure quality of workmanship and compliance with specifications and engineering standards.
• Develops long term plans to maintain equipment integrity, improve equipment availability and reliability and maintain cost effectiveness.
• Provides opportunities for training and development of employees whilst in the Department   and assesses their progress and ensures proper work delegation to achieve the desired training benefit.
• Appraises employee job performance, approves assignments and administer discipline. This includes benchmarking team performance and taking improvement actions.
• Provides Third party Technical and Engineering comments on “New Project” and “Modification” proposals developed by NG Engineering and Projects Divisions and liaises as necessary for pre-commissioning/commissioning.
• Performs other related or similar duties as assigned including technical reviews of modifications and changes to operations documentations/Manuals/Operation Procedures.
• Participates in Emergency and Incident Standby Rota.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by his/her Manager.

Supervision

• Maintain the gas network so that gas is reliably and securely transported from the production/ receipt site to the customer premises using the network in the most cost-effective way.
• Supervises his team efficiently.

Budgets

• Prepares operating budget and ensure tight control. Minimises variation between expenditure and budget.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

• Develops/reviews Division procedures and Standing Instructions for Maintenance department to ensure adherence to Qualities and Standards.
• Ensures that all company codes/regulations/engineering practices are adhered to by Department employees.

Performance Management

• Undertake all technical evaluation and enhancements to increase productivity and to suit changing demands.
• Plan, manage and implement maintenance programs for gas network which are centralized, efficient and carefully planned proactive and coordinated.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Keeps abreast of changes in relevant standards and improvements in associated technology and maintenance practices.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

• Participates in projects reviews like HAZOP, HSEIA, HAZID and Risk Assessments….etc. as and when required.
• Incident reporting and investigation.

Reports

• Submits periodical performance and achievement reports, including statistical analysis and identifying continuous improvements agreed action plans/ Benchmark maintenance performance identifying areas for improvement and providing solutions.
• Ensures that the documents in his custody are maintained and updated as per Document Control Procedures.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal

• Reports to the NG Operation and Maintenance Department Manager.
• Has regular contact with his counterparts in other Divisions on related matters.
• Has frequent contact with other employees in the Division.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

• BE / BSc   in Chemical/ Mechanical/Instrumentation or equivalent branch of Engineering.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Overall 12 years minimum in diverse Oil & Gas, Petrochemical industry in Maintenance Engineering; with at least 5 years in a supervisory role with good IT skills.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Natural gas industry.
