JOB PURPOSE

To generate scopes of work for electrical design work to be performed by design consultants and to review the submission of design and drawings from Design Consultants and Main Contractors in terms of technical compliance for High Voltage / Low Voltage electrical infrastructure ensuring that the submitted design takes into account quality, safety during construction, operation & maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate scope of work to cover all aspects of electrical design work for design consultants and contractors.
• Ensure that the Design Consultants produce a Reference Design based on all relevant and appropriate Specifications, Standards and Practices.    
• Supply Design Consultants with interface and supporting information to complete their design work.
• Monitor progress of Design Consultants and Contractors deliverables packages including design calculations, drawings etc.
• Ensure that the Design Consultant undertakes the review and acceptance of Contractor shop drawings and materials submittals.
• Review vendor submittals for pumps, valves, piping systems, container heavy lifting / moving equipment, permanent cranes and cargo handling equipment.
• Review Design Consultant calculations for electrical loads, cable sizes, protective devices, voltage drop etc.
• Liaise with other related disciplines, mainly Systems / Civil / Mechanical / M & E / Marine Engineers and co-ordinate work with them.
• Prepare design programs and assist in preparation of design budgets.
• Review design work or studies being carried out by others.
• Assist in managing consents, interfaces and approvals particularly on technical issues in meetings with Tenants, internal company stakeholders (Planning, Project Controls, Construction, Environmental, Marketing and Sales departments) and external stakeholders including ADM Planning Department, ADDC, TRANSCO etc.
• Monitor and report progress of the design consultants and contractors.
• Provide support to the Construction Department and Field Engineering to resolve Contractor Technical Queries and resultant field changes
• The review of main contractors design and drawing packages that are related to electrical, corrosion and grounding protection, lighting, and power generation systems.
• Provide support to Construction Department and disposition field changes.  Review construction shop drawings and materials submittals.

Educational and Technical Qualifications:

• University graduate with BSc in a relevant Engineering degree.

Language Skills:

• English language competency.
• Excellent technical report writing skill.

Years of Experience:

• A minimum of 15 (13 with MS) years’ experience gained in Engineering Design and is to include experience on works of a similar nature in extensive Port & Industrial infrastructure.
• Essential experience in primary / secondary power systems.

Nature of Experience:

• Experience in oil spill management; leadership and effective supervision; problem solving.
• Must be an effective communicator and have good computer skills.
• Must be familiar with all operational, maintenance and repair aspects of the response equipment.
