Job Description

Basic Function:

• The Laboratory Technician will be involved in the set-up and maintenance of laboratory facilities, equipment, and inventory. The incumbent will assist with day to day operation requirements for instruction and research activities. The lab technician may also assist students in lab activities when needed.

Worked Performed:

• Set up equipment for use in labs, ensure proper operation of equipment and report operating deficiencies

• Prepare various test specimens and samples as needed. .

• Coordinate with laboratory engineersin order tomake sure that the laboratories are ready for laboratory classes.

• Assist students in laboratory experiments as appropriate and provide guidance in learning and/or functional operation of experiments and equipment.

• Provide technical support for experimental equipment including troubleshooting and correcting problems.

• Ensure compliance with all aspects of laboratory health, safety and analytical methodology.

• Conduct routine maintenance of lab equipment and experimental set-ups as needed.

• Assist in identifying equipment and material requirements and specifications .

• Perform other tasks and duties that may be from time to time required..

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree or a 2-Year diploma from an accredited university in a relevant discipline .

• Minimum two years of relevant experience in academic teaching laboratories. .

• Knowledge of experimental procedures and preparation techniques, especially within the area of specialty.

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, operations and procedures, including the ability to set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment.

• Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures in an educational laboratory situation.

• Skillful in laboratory experiments set-up,

• Ability to maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

• Good Communication skills.

• Fluent in English, Arabic is desirable.
