Job Description
Basic Function:
• Supervise all operations related to Drilling Fluids operations of Company.
• Contribute to the full implementation of Company's HSE and operational goals and objectives.
• Perform quality monitoring of fluid systems, stock inventory and consumption.
• Review and ensure Drilling Fluids Services and Solids Control Services Contractor's performance and reporting through KPIs.
• Contribute to the cost optimization of operations while maintaining a high level of quality, safety and protection of environment.
• Assist in the motivation and training of field personnel to meet Company desired standards.
Work Performed:
• Ensure that Fluids programs and procedures are available, understood, agreed and followed by all personnel involved.
• Optimize the management of Fluid Services in the field with the assistance of lead mud engineers. Ensure that the best practices and procedures are followed.
• Ensure Company HSE procedures and standards are respected and followed by Company engineers and Contractor personnel.
• Ensure quality of chemicals, equipment, lab and procedures with the assistance of lead mud engineers.
• Provide technical support to rig mud engineers as required.
• Follow up all field operations by monitoring timely submission of mud reports, mud recaps, phase reports, incident reports etc by field mud engineers and lead mud engineers.
• Ensure inventory management with the assistance of lead mud engineers.
• Review and report analyses of any contractor equipment failure, non-conformance of services and fluid related rig NPTs.
• Review and monitor contractor's drilling fluid programs, reports and recaps. Management of field and base personnel and optimal utilization of human resources.
• Review and develop Company Drilling Fluid Procedures and Practices. Contribute Fluid Procedures and Practices to Company Drilling Operations Manuals (DORM).
• Co-ordinate with all teams of Drilling Division for safe and optimal drilling operations as per approved drilling and fluid programs. Provide technical support to Drilling personnel.
• Co-ordinate with Reservoir and Petroleum Engineers to improve well productivity, carry out formation damage tests, design drill-in fluids and well clean-up fluids.
• Troubleshoot and analyze drilling problems, design lab pilot tests and simulations, recommend improvements and solutions.
• Participate in WDP meetings, operational meetings, well review meetings, workshops and task forces.
• Make Lessons Learned and Incident Review presentations, Fluid presentations at Peer Reviews, DTLs and Work-shops.
• Make technical paper submissions and presentations at industry conferences including SPE.
• Perform periodical safety and operational audits on rigs, fluid contractors and chemical suppliers' yards / warehouses and labs.
• Prepare tenders' technical scope and specifications, technically evaluate tenders, design and monitor lab evaluations of chemicals and formulations.
• Manage drilling fluid, solids control, filtration and brine plant contracts as job officer.
• Prepare annual budgets, update cost manuals, AFEs of wells and monitor these.
• Monitor and approve contractor invoices.
• Plan specific critical operations in co-ordination with Drilling personnel and Mud engineers.
• Plan and promote new technology trials for improved drilling performance. Prepare trial reports and presentations.
• Make strategic plans for Company's future operations and new field developments.
• Co-ordinate with other Company OPCOs on issues of common interests. Maintain networking with other oil Companies to share new technologies and best practices.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
• The position will be filled by a qualified and experienced Engineer who has been exposed to offshore operations. He should have a degree in Chemistry / Engineering / Petroleum. He should have minimum 10 years experience in Drilling Fluids engineering.
• The engineer must be able to work independently and proactively.
• A good command of English is mandatory.
• Be a team player.
• Good communication skills to improve fluids management.
• Be able to achieve Company objectives through good coordination between all parties involved.
