Job Description
Basic Function:
• Contributes to the technical evaluation and selection of all offshore marine vessels, rigs and barges for compliance with Company requirements and the established OPCO marine standards.
• Assists in providing technical advice and marine support to projects managers and sites during offshore projects and marine operations.
Work Performed:
• Inspects project vessels / spreads, prior to their entry into the fields, in order to ensure their conformity with safety and specification standards and advises for the preparation of marine entry permits.
• Assists and supports during emergencies involving fire-fighting, anti-pollution, search and rescue operations.
• Monitors the major work carried out at dry-dock and ship repair yards for Company contracted vessels.
• Ensures the vessels, machinery, cranes and auxiliary equipment are running and comply with Company procedures.
• Ensures that the Preventive Planned Maintenance Programmes are met for all marine units involved in Company marine operations.
• Follows-up and monitors the maintenance programmes carried out by contracted marine vessels and ensure corrective action plans are met in compliance with Company standards and contractual obligations.
• Follow-up and monitor the HSE reports received form marine contractors, in liaison with HSE Dept.
• Assist in the investigation and analysis of the offshore marine related incidents, initial reporting and recommendation.
• Assist in preparation of SOW for major repairs / refurbishment and replacement of navigational aids, mooring deadweights and buoyage system to ensure its integrity and serviceability in all Company fields.
• Assists in interviews and assessment of marine crew, training, certification and leave rotation control.
• Assists in the preparation for special assignment of vessel (s) when moving to sites, as and when required.
• Performs the duty of marine advisor onboard barges or special assigned vessels during critical project operations within the fields.
• Carries out on-call function outside office hours and participates as Emergency Duty Officer for marine logistics.
• Advises on methods and equipment for oil pollution control during operations.
• Review and approve contractors’ preventive maintenance programme and dry-docking schedules for vessels under own scope and visit dry-dock during refurbishment to monitor progress.
• Prepare technical specifications of marine vessels and evaluate tender proposals for compliance with marine requirements.
• Provide marine support to Company offshore projects, surveys and barge moves including review of documents, marine procedures, anchor patterns and participate in relevant risk assessments.
• Assists in revisions and updates of OPCO Marine Standards related to marine vessels and contractors as part of OPCO Standards Task Force.
• Assists in operational duties and act as reliever for offshore mariners in case of emergency or otherwise required by the Team Leader.
• Assist in developing UAE nationals in the marine discipline.
• Participate in the OPCO audit of marine contractors and follow-up the close out action plans.
• Incumbent should be available for cross posting to another marine position onshore or offshore if and when required.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
• Master marine certificate of competency (Foreign going) or equivalent high degree related to Oceaneering Nautical Science or Marine Engineering.
• 7 years post qualification experience in the marine industry out of which 3 years in Offshore Oil & Gas Marine projects support operations.
• Good command of English and communication skills
• Computer literate an advantage.
• Valid safety training in accordance with IMO-STCW95 and OPCO marine standards.
