Job Purpose:

Provide emergency care and advanced life support to injured divers.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Promptly respond to emergency medical situations by providing appropriate medical care for injured divers on the scene and acting as tenders in the hyperbaric chamber.
• Assist the diving supervisor with decompression procedures and advise when medical help should be sought.
• Investigate diving accidents in detail and report to authorities as directed.
• Ensure effective & quick communication with onshore medical professionals as and when required.
• Ensure that required medical equipment is available on board and is well maintained.
• Encourage fitness in the diving team & offer basic first aid training to enable team members to deal with emergency medical situations.
• Maintain medical records of divers as appropriate.
• Attend training programmes to enhance knowledge & skills and stay abreast of latest techniques in life support thus ensuring that efforts are optimized and risks are minimized
• Compliance in accordance with section/Company policies & procedures, Policy of Integrity & Code of Conduct, IMCA codes & HSE standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• 3 years’ experience in offshore oil field construction/inspection.
• Hold an IMCA- recognised surface supplied diving qualification as set out in the IMCA international Code of Practice for Offshore Diving.
• Valid HSE Part 1 or equivalent.
• Current & valid DMT certificate.
• Current & valid offshore medical certificate.
• Current & valid offshore survival certificate for geographical area of work.
• Stamped and signed dive log book.
• Knowledge & experience in administering advanced life support aid.
• Experience in wound management/shock management.
• Must be familiar with diving machinery/systems and related medical equipment.
• Knowledgeable of IMCA codes of practice and work standards.
• Ability to work in dark waters.
• Good written and spoken English skills.
• Good computer skills.
