Job Description
Job duties but not limited to
 
• Receives verbal instructions, Work orders, Sketches and Drawings from supervisors and arranges for necessary equipment, tools and materials. Ensures welding work permits are available prior to starting a job. 
• Read drawings, sketches or symbols, marks or makes free-hand layout on metal and prepares metal  surface for welding. Selects the correct type and gauge welding rods for specific welds in specific types of materials such as carbon steel, Ferritic, Austentic and stainless steel, etc. 
• Operates electric arc welding machines and adjusts ampere and voltage welding. Operates oxygen and acetylene welding equipment, connects regulator, torch and gas cylinders and adjusts gas pressure. 
• Welds, cuts and brazes metal parts.  Works with ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as brass, bronze, cast iron, stainless steel and Aluminum. Performs flat, vertical and overhead welding, as well as pipeline welding for gas, oil, steam and water lines. 
• Operates metal inert gas or tungsten inert gas welding equipment and welds materials, such as heat resistant steel and copper-nickel alloys. 
• Uses disc grinders to back-cut welds and drying oven for electrodes, and applies pre and post-heat treatment techniques.  Also applies correct tacking sequence of large diameter welds to prevent distortion. 
• Performs other related duties such as assisting in training lower level welders and helpers, cleaning up job site after completion of work etc. 
• Performs routine check of all the related equipment’s to welding activities such as welding machine, plasma cutting etc.
• Safeguard own Health and Safety, as well as that of the fellow employees, by paying attention to safe work practices, maintaining a safe work environment and complying with applicable HSE requirements. 
• Take action to INTERVENE and STOP any un-safe activity or non-compliance with HSE requirements, 
• if witnessed, and report the incident – regardless of your position or that of the transgressor 
• Implement and comply with all relevant functional policies, processes, systems, Quality standards, procedures, to accomplish operational objectives.
• Contribute to the identification of areas and opportunities for continuous improvement in the operating procedures and functional processes. 
• Provide inputs to prepare Section progress reports for Company Management. 
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications
 
• Technical Diploma or Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant 
field of fabrication maintenance.  
• 4 years of experience, in fabrication and welding activities in the Oil &Gas or petrochemical industry. 
• Professional in English Language ( reading, writing and Speaking )
• Good understanding of Quality Standard codes compliance and capable of resolving safety issues. 
• Knowledge of the approved methods, material, tools, occupational hazards, proper safety precaution required at the work and equipment utilized in electrical installation and maintenance. 
• Valid Certificates mandatory
